LIGHT

Audrey introduced our session on 'Light' by looking at various light sources and their uses. These included candles, torches & light bulbs etc. These will shine in the dark and show us where we are going; to see things more clearly; to do things better and sometimesshow us if we are going wrong or making mistakes. For example, if we are walking on the pavement in the dark we may stray into the road - but in the light we can see clearly and walk when it is safe.

Light is really important and we looked how the lights worked.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the light of the world. He is our power supply! If we believe in Him, Gods power will enable the light of Jesus to shine in us for others to see. Amazing! The light of Jesus in us, showing us how to live lives that are pleasing to God and making us aware of when we do wrong (sin).

Michael read the story:

When God made the world, the first thing he made was light.

Bright shining light! Gleaming, glinting, beautiful light.

Gods world was a wonderful place for people to live. There was sunlight in the daytime and moonlight by night. At first people were happy living in Gods world, but then they began fighting, telling lies, being unkind and not caring for the earth. God was sad. It was as though His beautiful world was darker.

God sent Jesus into the world to be a light for everyone, like a shining light helping everyone see how to live Gods way.

Activities: Three items were made by Michael today to show the light of the world (photos below). A Lantern, Lighthouse and Light-bulb

Closing Prayer: Dear God, "Jesus is the light of the world. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it," "May the light of Jesus shine in me". Amen
